Arthur Warren Hixson Instructor in Mining and Metallurgy education at the Hiawatha high school, Hiawatha, Kansas, receiving a diploma from this school in 1900. In the fall of the same year Mr. Hixson entered the University of Kansas and left there in 1906, spending five years in college and receiving the degree of B. A. in Mining besides preparing work for the degree of M. A. After leaving school in 1906 he was assayer for the Detroit Copper Co. of Arizona. In 1907 he was superintendent of the water works and concentrating department of the same company. In November and December of that same year he visited the mines and mills of the different mining companies of Arizona and northern Mexico and studied their methods of operation. In January, 1908, Mr. Hixson received the appointment as chemist of the state of Illinois Experiment Station and in September, 1908, he came to the State University of Iowa as instructor in Mining and Metallurgy.
